Badrinath is a town and nagar panchayat in Chamoli district in the state of Uttarakhand, India. A Hindu holy place, it is one of the four sites in India's Char Dham pilgrimage and is also part of India's Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit. It gets its name from the Badrinath Temple. It is considered one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism and attracts thousands of devotees every year. The Badrinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is located at an elevation of 3,133 meters above sea level in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas.

The yatra usually starts in the month of April-May and lasts till November when the temple closes for the winter season. The route to Badrinath involves a strenuous trek through rugged terrain and steep slopes. The yatra begins from the town of Rishikesh and covers a distance of about 300 kilometers.

During the yatra, devotees take a dip in the holy waters of Tapt Kund before visiting the temple. The temple is situated at the confluence of the Alaknanda and the Rishi Ganga rivers and offers a stunning view of the Himalayas. The temple is open for darshan from 4:30 am to 9 pm every day.

The Badrinath yatra is believed to cleanse the soul and provide blessings for good fortune and prosperity. It is also believed that a visit to Badrinath can help one attain moksha or liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
